I did that with all my presents a number of years ago, except that I bought a star stencil and metallic silver paint pen and added a few stars here and there on the packages. I also got a few brown gift bags too! I keep thinking about doing that again. I also LOVE that same picture from the PB catalog and have been wanting to do it, but haven't yet. Maybe next year...
