family fotos

(Yes, I know...fotos. But I had to use an alliteration!)

For my father's Christmas gift, my sisters and I decided to chip in and buy a photography (fotography!) session at the mall. This was one of my favorite shots of us three girls. That's me on the left hand corner, Alyssa on the right hand corner, and Brittany at the top (I'm the oldest, followed by Brittany, then Alyssa).

Hopefully this weekend I'll have the rest so you can see all four of us in our shining glory! Yikes! I just realized this is the weekend we check into our new base! Not wanting to weigh this post down, I'll be sure to give a full up date tomorrow on what's been happening.

December 22, 2008

So, with my lack of camera cords to download my pictures onto the computer, I find posting rather difficult. I mean, I'm a visual person! I'd get bored reading my own blog if there wasn't at least one picture featured!

However, I was re-reading my old posts (read: proof reading for mistakes) and realized I'd mentioned "Dr. C., my miracle worker" with a promise to touch on him at a later date. No point in beating around the bush here: he's my plastic surgeon. I had a breast augmentation done back in May, and this last appointment was my six month follow-up.

I know that in today's society, most women have "some work" done to them, but it seems as though there is still a certain stigma surrounding plastic surgery. Maybe it's just the term plastic--like we're being shaped from a Barbie Doll mold. Personally, I think this is the farthest from the truth. Regardless of what type of surgery you go in for, you still leave with the same body, just slightly altered. I'm not embarrassed or ashamed of what I did because it made my body more proportioned.

Without getting too intimate, here are a couple shots of me. This first one is in December of 2007 (I've just curled my hair for the first time, hence the smug little smile on my face).

And the second is of me this past summer 2008 when I came back to California for a visit (I'm also at my best weight here--I'm killing myself to get back there now).

To emphasize this point even more, in the first picture I am wearing a padded bra! I used to tell hubby I looked like a little pear, and now I'm an hour glass.

I'm not really sure how to end this post. Either with an, "I did it and I'm not ashamed!" (for truly, I'm not); or if I should just end by saying I know my choice isn't for everyone, but it was the right one for me (again true); but I think I'll just end by saying that some of us weren't born with the natural curves we so desired, and I took advantage of a way to find mine.

safe and sound

So, we've made it to the West Coast! As time is being spent with the family, friends and other long lost souls, I thought I'd just pop in to let everyone know we're okay! I'll probably be taking a hiatus for a few weeks to get us through the holidays. Also, we've just discovered base housing up North has a 3-6 month wait list, and we'll be going back to apartment living for some time! (But great news, the rental agency back East says there's been a lot of interest in our house and one couple has already put in an application!) So now we've got to hunt one down. Can't wait to see what everyone gets for Christmas! Hope you all have a wonderful season!

Shot outside our hotel at the Grand Canyon, playing in real-fell-from-the-sky-snow!

I'm a celebrity in my little mind.

PS: Isn't my new red fedora fabulous?!

fair winds and following seas...

This will be my last entry for a while. The Internet is being shut off today. I'm sure I'll go through a bit of withdraw not having the Fedora Lounge, or access to our bank accounts, but I also know this is one of the final things we have to do before we are truly and officially on our way!

Hopefully I'll be able to update from my mother's house (we're staying there for 3 weeks once we get into California), but as far as I know, their computer had a virus and has yet to be restored. If that's the case, it will be well into January before I'm able to update since we'll be at the mercy of the base housing gods.

So, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year! Perhaps 2009 will see me fit to finally start collecting all my vintage clothes and goodies!
